Fitting Mesh
When you upgrade your bumper the first thing that you want to do is fill those nasty holes with meshing, it’s not as hard as most people think and can be done by most people with great ease. There are many designs of meshing available so be sure to find the one you like best as it’s a pain changing it once it’s set in place. When your planning on fitting or changing the mesh in your bumper be sure to take the bumper off to avoid any damage to the to the grill clips.
When you buy meshing it tends to come in square sheets so you have plenty to material in case you make an error but if you take your time and follow these instructions then you will be sure to make minimal mistakes.

Once you have chosen the right type of meshing you’re ready to go, take the sheet and place over the hole you plan on covering. Cut it so it’s a little bigger then the actual hole itself. |
| Take the cut out and place on top the hole and bend it over the edges. You may have to cut the corners so the meshing folds neatly in place. This is where you found if you have cut it too small or too big in step one. If it doesn’t fit nice and snug then you will have to repeat step one with a new piece of meshing. | ![]() |

Once you have got it to size take the meshing off and apply a decent layer of mastic and stick it over the hole. Once placed over the hole apply a further layer of mastic, this should be enough to hold it in place. If you have any holes to cut in the meshing for a towing eye, wait until the mastic is completely dry to avoid any damage. |
| There is an alternative method if you don’t have access to any mastic which will give you the same effect. Cut the meshing to size and bend it over the edges of the hole using a small tap hammer. Be sure not to hit it too hard or you may damage the bumper itself. | ![]() |

When the meshing is in place you can apply a coat of fibreglass which will bond the metal to the bumper if you have any. If not you can buy from any hardware store for a relatively cheap price. If you’re on a budget and wish to spend as little as possible then you can drill holes into the bumper and fix the meshing down using small self tapping screws around the edge of the mesh. |
